THE MEN WHO KEEP THE SHOW MOVING
Donnell Rawlings – Host
You’ve seen him on Comedy Central’s award winning and critically celebrated Chappelle’s Show as “Ashy Larry”, the 70’s jheri curled “Beautiful”, and numerous other characters he’s played. Donnell is the franchise player Dave Chappelle and Neal Brennan wanted as a writer and prime time player on their team. Since Dave Chappelle had business to take care of in Africa, Donnell was asked to step into the huge shoes Dave left behind, and host the Lost Episodes. “Hilarious” is what Linda Stasi of The New York Post calls Donnell’s performance as host.
Growing up, this Washington, D.C. native used humor as a means of persuasion with the ladies and whipped out his wicked wit as a weapon of mass destruction in verbal battle. While in the Air Force, Donnell’s wordplay shot down more military personnel than the G.I. issued arms.
When Donnell returned to the States and settled into civilian life, he decided to check out the local comedy scene in D.C. He quickly became the “official heckler” as he ate comedians alive from the audience. One day a local comedian challenged Donnell to bring his act to the stage. Six months later Donnell was performing on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam.
Donnell’s peers have noticed his talent and potential. Neal Brennan, co-executive producer and co-head writer of Chappelle’s Show: “Whenever we put Donnell in the game he’s going to hit a home run.” Jamie Foxx says “That guy is a beast!” Wayne Brady commented that Donnell provides “amazing work on the show” and Dave Chappelle feels that “Donnell brings so much to the table…this very funny guy makes it look natural and easy.”
Ron G – Host
Ron G is blazing a trail as one of the hottest upcoming comedians in LA. This former class clown decided it was time to graduate from the classroom and take his act to the world’s stage. Ron G, who describes his comedy as “high energy and clever with an urban flare,” graduated with a dual degree in finance and management from the University of South Carolina. But he quickly decided he didn’t fit into the corporate world, and at his cousin’s urging got up on stage for the first time in Atlanta, GA and got booed severely. He calls that “the best and worst day of my life – the day I fell in love with comedy.” He has been performing ever since at clubs, colleges, churches and corporate events across the country, entertaining people while staying true to his commitment to clean humor. His performance presents down to earth humor and funny characters.
Ron G began his stand up career in Atlanta, GA, and was crowned 1st place winner of the 2005 Sierra Mist Late Night Laff Off. After moving to Los Angeles to further his career as a comedian and actor, he was a finalist on the new hit TV show Bill Bellamy’s “Who’s Got Jokes” and was also a finalist on the most recent season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. And if that wasn’t enough, on his very first commercial audition, he booked a gig as national Spokesperson for Checker’s & Rally’s Restaurants. Having Martin Lawrence tell him he was funny is one of Ron G’s career highlights so far, and after receiving his first standing ovation only eight months in the game, he knew he had found his calling.
Ron G says, “I want to represent the new generation of comedians that get overlooked. I’d like to show the world the new generation is just as funny, clever and talented.
